My journey in health and wellness began at the age of 14 when I was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks healthy tissue. At the time of my diagnosis, I was experiencing severe joint pain in my hands and feet, inexplicable body rashes, as well as the characteristic malar rash, a specific symptom of lupus. After years of treating my illness through conventional medicine, with minimal effects, I took it upon myself to learn the ways in which I might be able to alleviate my symptoms in a more holistic and natural way. I discontinued use of my medication immediately, and from there, began to make small lifestyle changes. With a healthy diet rich in whole foods, a moderately active lifestyle, and adequate rest, I’m able to manage my lupus and live virtually symptom-free.

It’s taken a lot of time, tears, and research to get to where I am today. The best part of my journey is that every day is different. Even though I have spent several years changing and refining my diet and lifestyle, I am constantly learning about health and nutrition, the proper nutrition that suits me best, and the lifestyle that will allow me to be the best version of myself.

Health truly is a journey, and that which must be experienced holistically in order to flourish.
