GO-TO GREEN SMOOTHIE

 

This is my favourite green smoothie. I love it because it uses real, whole food ingredients that can be easily found at your local grocery store or farmer's market. I like to enjoy this smoothie in the morning, as it boasts a balance of the best nutrients to start my day. Nutrient-dense greens, healthy fats from avocado and coconut milk, alkalizing lemon, and anti-inflammatory ginger. It has just the right amount of sweetness with the added banana and cinnamon, which is also beneficial to balance blood sugar levels. It's the perfect start to any day.

 

MAKES 1 SERVING

2 c. spinach
1/2 banana, preferably frozen
1/2 c. full-fat coconut milk
1/4 ripe avocado
1/2 lemon, peeled
1/2-inch piece of fresh ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 scoop protein powder or 1 tbsp. raw nut butter (optional)

 

DIRECTIONS

1. In a high-powered blender, add all ingredients and blend   until smooth.

2. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.
